Felt Gift Bow Tutorial

Welcome to Day 4 of the Creating Christmas link up challenge!

So you have a bunch of extra felt scraps after making a forest of felt Christmas trees, eh? Well, fear no more! I was faced with this dilemma and did a little Pinterest search for ways to use felt scraps. I've got the perfect way to get all the holiday use you can out of that beautiful felt {originally found here, here, and here!}

Step 1: Gather your excess felt, glue gun & felt-cutting scissors or rotary cutter.
Step 2: Cut your felt into 1" to ¾" strips (depending on your preference). Cut 2 pieces 12" in length. Cut 2 pieces 10" in length. Cut 2 pieces 8½" in length. Cut 1 piece 4" in length. For different size bows you can make these longer or shorter. Experiment a little!

Step 3: Using the longest strip, fold one end like seen above.
Step 4: Fold the opposite end the same way as seen above to make a figure eight. Don't overlap the ends because it will make the finished bow too bulky. Hot glue these ends down. And don't burn your finger like I did.

Step 5: Repeat for every strip except the smallest strip.
Step 6: Wrap the smallest strip into a circle and glue the overlapping ends.

Step 7: With your two largest figure eights, glue one on top of the other making an "X" shape.
Step 8: Repeat for the other 2 sizes.

Step 9: Layer the 3 sets of "X"s on top of each other alternating the direction of the "X" with each layer. Glue these guys in place.
Step 10: Glue the final circle piece onto the center of the bow, placing the overlapping end at the bottom.

Perfect size topper for the Slatkin & Co candles I'm gifting to a few of my friends! These would also make a cute embellishment to a sweater or bag or simply as a holiday decoration! I made a few different colors and even invested in a rotary cutter after I made these because I have a feeling I'll be making a lot more! They are addicting to make! :)
